An investigation by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has uncovered multiple sites in Sydney with asbestos-contaminated mulch, which raises both public health and safety issues, and also regulatory and legal issues that need to be urgently and proactively addressed.

An article in the Guardian indicates that asbestos contamination has been found in various sites, including transport infrastructure projects, schools and hospitals, and that the NSW Premier Chris Minns has emphasized the significance of the EPA’s investigation, which is described as the largest ever undertaken by the authority.
