The NSW State Government announced on 12 August 2021 that the following Local Government Areas (LGAs) now have travel and gathering restrictions applied from 5.00pm 12 August 2021.
- Bayside
- Burwood
- Strathfield
All residents in these suburbs who are defined as an authorised worker may leave their LGA for work purposes if they cannot perform that work from home.
For you to be considered as an authorised worker to who work on a construction site in Greater Sydney you must have;
- had 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine; or
- had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 21 days ago; or
- had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine within the preceding 21 days and has been tested for COVID-19 within the preceding 72 hours (3 days); or
- a certified medical contraindication and has been tested for COVID-19 within the preceding 72 hours (3 days).
Construction companies are allowed to be open if they are following the Public Health Orders, registered as covid safe and have a covid safe plan.

On 13 August 2021, an Exemption Order was issued to clarify that drivers of a vehicle who enters or remains on a construction site in Greater Sydney, only to deliver or remove goods (including but limited to supplies, equipment, water or spoil), may do so without a vaccination.
From 13 August 2021, businesses in NSW can accept the new customer COVID-19 check-in card.
The COVID-19 check-in card is a hard copy card with an encrypted unique QR code that contains the individual’s registered contact details. This new card provides an alternative method to check-in to workplaces and shops using the QR code system where people have no or old mobile phones.

The new Health Orders permits visitors to also attend places at residential properties to perform work if it is urgently ensuring the health, safety or security of the place of residence, or are members of the household or if it is an emergency. An emergency is considered to be installation, maintenance or repair of an essential utility, in which includes a water, gas, electricity, internet, television or telecommunications services or for fire protection and safety. Also, the cleaning or carrying out of repairs or maintenance at an unoccupied place of residence where it is necessary for the sale or lease of a residence.

People are also advised that the effect of this amended Health Order is to impose similar restrictions on persons residing in the abovementioned suburbs as which also apply to the residents of the eight LGA’s.
